Sugarhouse GCXBX6 & GCPANF

The moment we walk in the door from geocaching 1st Encampment Park, J. asks "can we go again"..."no honey, we have to have dinner now."....."can we go after dinner?" LOL!

Geocache day two is the next day! I chose Sugarhouse Park because there are two caches! (double the pleasure!) And Surgarhouse park is dog friendly, so Roscoe gets to come again. He did GREAT! He even held is car sick until we got out of the car! (who's a good boy!)

Sugarhouse Park is beautiful, rolling hills (good sledding in the winter!) open fields, play grounds, and duck pond. We found out that the entire park is a Catch Basin. Gates can be closed & the entire park filled with run off water, to protect the city from flooding! (I never knew that!) The first cache is named Catch Basin, and we had fun scouting the river banks looking for the treasure!

The second cache is named Bird's Nest. And what a clever hide!  It's inside a HUGE pine tree that has boughs that touch the ground and create a outdoor room! The cache itself was a birds nest (thus the name!)

The GPS on my phone finally opened (Hubs was jealous!) The kids got a kick out of using the compass app, and counting down the meters to the cache.

above is my first ever picasa movie! pop some corn, sit back, and enjoy my  master piece!

OUR FIRST CACHE! GC28FVV

Our first geocache was found by K! Very exciting! He waited for J before opening the cache. (what a good brother!)

We start geocaching!

I recently heard about geocaching, and thought my kids would LOVE to give it a try. Modern day treasure hunting! What kid wouldn't? The hubs will love it, he gets to buy a new techie gadget (GPS) and I love getting everyone out of the house for some family time!

We are brand new to this past time, but it seems pretty straight forward. Find coordinates to a cache and set off to find it! The rules are easy, find a cache open it up and see whats inside. If you take an item, leave an item of equal or greater value! But what to leave? We decided on friendship bracelets. The kids had a great time making them this afternoon! They can't wait to go on our first adventure!
